That said, we were in Cooperstown and just popped into the lobby. (The husband of the couple we were with works with former ML P Ricky Wright, who is in some HOF exhibit that he wanted to check on.).  All of the love I had for the game, and it's history, rushed back.  I was able to identify Larry Doby and Satchel Paige in the same photo, because they were in Cleveland uniforms.  I picked out Josh Gibon.  There is are 3 status in the lobby, Gehrig, Robinson and Clemente.  I recalled the way Clemente ran, and vividly recall the news discussing his plane crashing on a humanitarian mission, back before athletes organized the press for such things.
I relived my (modest, but for me, indelible, baseball exploits), and I realized I still love the game, despite it's problems, and because of its uniqueness, complexity and history.
