I wish they would have also retired SU basketball player Martha Mogish’s jersey. ( played 1977-1981) She was a phenomenal player and was SU’s first star for SU women’s basketball program. She was a 2 sport player (crew), a great student and really the alpha for the entire program. Her Jersey # was 44 during her SU career.

She ranks first in program history in career field goal percentage (.539) and career rebounding average (9.1), fourth in career field goals made (574) and career rebounds (912), fifth in career scoring average (14.1) and career blocks (171), and sixth in career points (1,405) and career blocks average (1.7). She led SU to their first ever post season women’s basketball tournament her senior year.
 
There were no women’s basketball professional leagues in the USA after her career at SU (the 3 year old WBL folded the year before she graduated) so she played professionally overseas for 4 years winning a European championship. She has been in the Syracuse Hall of Fame since 2003 and was the first female athlete awarded SU’s Letterman of Distinction in 2001. Just wish she had been included too with her jersey retired but I think Felisha‘s honor is also well deserved and wonder if it’s a hint and reassurance that she‘s a very strong contender for coach.
