I’ll just leave this here. FWIW, there was a tryout for the Iroquois Nationals Men’s “Sixes” team competing in the ‘22 World Games held in Syracuse but I believe that was June 19-20. Honestly, I’d be all for bringing Tehoka in for a year with the understanding that he’s already used his “first 2 strikes” at Albany & any further incidents would remove him from the team. While there are certainly some semi-similar red-flags, the details & outcomes of his & Scanlan’s situations are in no way comparable & honestly shouldn’t even factor into a decision to bring him in. By all accounts, Tehoka allegedly got in a few scrums with teammates on the practice field, had a tendency to get flagged for cheap shots during games, escalated that sideline scrum vs Bingo but was only sticking up for a teammate after the Bingo player intentionally bulldozed them in the substitution box, & then finally got into an alleged shouting match with teammates/coaches in the locker room after the Stony Brook game which ended up being the final straw. He was also suspended for a game his Soph year for tagging a stick-stringing company in an IG post, something that would be fine under the new NIL rules. As for his in-game antics, they’re not that much worse than things we’ve seen some of our own players do in the past. Nate Solomon’s occasional boneheaded, costly cheap shots as well as his postgame scuffle at UVA in ‘18 come to mind. Without naming names, we’ve also had practice field/locker room fights between teammates in the past that were resolved in-house, not to mention players fighting (in at least one case, sucker-punching) other students & even law enforcement before ultimately being re-instated. A change of scenery & the chance to earn his degree under the Promise scholarship while resurrecting his image/brand/career on college Lax’s biggest stage before turning pro should be enough for Tehoka to buy-in, keep his head on straight, & assimilate himself with teammates.
