2023 Portal

Unfortunately, the end-of-season choke job robbed the program of any momentum to pick up good transfers. Good players want to win games and play in the tournament.

If Judah and Jesse stay, which is unlikely, maybe we can attract a high-end forward. But they won't stay, so it doesn't matter. If they and Joe leave, there's a lot of open minutes, but I don't know if it would be attractive for someone who wants to win.

Hopefully Adam gets involved. Money solves everything.

I still think JJ Starling is going to be very good and if he doesn’t follow Brey I’d imagine Red would have a good shot there.

That's a good point. There might be some others who would consider coming here in the portal based on previous recruiting if JW promotes Red.

Solid replacement for Mintz if that is the case.
If we could hold onto Mintz that would be a nice backcourt if Joe leaves. I still think Taylor will end up being a very good 2 guard, too.

It is going to be an interesting offseason. Outside of Jesse/Joe I don't know who will stay or go if/when we finally make the coaching change. What does Taylor say if Bennett comes calling?

I think Taylor is going to be a good piece. And I think he just needs more experience and practice. But not sure Virginia would take a shot on him at this point. They have a lot more quality on there roster than we do. And he would be a roll the dice kid for them.

His shot is a mess. His situation reminds me a lot of Symir.

Taylor’s shot has to be addressed. His left hand is on top of the ball when he shoots. He has an extremely slow release. He has to learn to shoot quicker.

Didn’t seem to hurt an 11-21 Pitt team that closed last year with 5 straight losses when they went portal heavy.

All kids are different. Their motivations vary significantly.

If they didn't want him out of high school - which I don't think they did - I don't know what he displayed this year that would have changed their mind (and I like Taylor).

His shot is a mess but he would be one of the most athletic back court players we have had here in a while.

That's a good point. Fingers crossed.
