I am giddy. This was the one guy I didn't want to lose, and they not only kept him but at a really reasonable deal relative to the mean. No no trade? No opt outs? Deal only runs through age 36?

Still lots of work to do. This is still not a playoff lineup. But at least we kept my guy. Now let's find a SS (among other remaining needs)

Yeah this was a huge move and absolutely needed to happen to fend off all efforts to tar and feather John Henry.

I’m still not convinced that Henry and FSG are interested anymore in spending money to get the Red Sox back into the World Series.

I think their primary interests are out west and everybody else is on autopilot.
