We didn’t hear Gleyber run his mouth about the Yankees when he signed in Detroit. He certainly could have pointed out that every player in the lineup dogged-it at some point last season, but he was the only one held accountable. Also, I don’t blame Gleyber for not wanting to switch positions. He already had issues at two positions and was having a difficult year at the plate. I don’t think he wanted the extra complications in an extra challenging season. Why bend over backwards for a team who expressed no interest in retaining your services and just traded for your replacement? Even the great Yankee hero and team player Derek Jeter didn’t step aside for a superior player. Sure Gleyber isn’t Jeter, but Jazz isn’t A-Rod either. For whatever reason (I am sure much of it is Gleyber’s fault), the Yankees didn’t like him. There is nothing wrong with choosing to move on, but one party chose to act with class after the break-up and it was not the Yankees. Sometimes it is hard to root for this organization.
