Sounds like Severino can opt out after Year 2. SP prices are bonkers this offseason.
15 765.
15 765.
Soto is a great player, but you have to think that it's really 10 years of productive for 765??? You can overpay for quite a few players for that much.
Now the Yankees need to not panic like they did after letting Cano walk. That led to horrible deals with Ellsbury and McCann.Great player would have loved to have had him back but man that's a lot of $$$ for one dude
To play baseballGreat player would have loved to have had him back but man that's a lot of $$$ for one dude
Please God no Pete Alonzo.
Especially one destined for DH sooner rather than later .Great player would have loved to have had him back but man that's a lot of $$$ for one dude
Can never have enough quality pitchers. Very rarely do these long term super deals work out so hopefully Cashman uses the money wisely. There are still good options available. No matter what the Mets do, they will still be underdogs to LA. Same with the Yanks. Didn't win no matter how great Soto was. Now, it's up to the Captain to lead by example.Roll the dice with Dominguez. Judge back to right field. Probably going to make an offer to Santander and/or work something out with Chicago for Bellinger. Give Durbin a shot at 2nd base. Money saved should be used for pitching. Not a fan of Santander or Alonzo.
Yeah not a consolation prize or sticking it to the Mets option. You have to figure Boras will try and shove him down the Yankees throats but no team will pay him anywhere near what the Yankees would need to for him. Please God no Pete Alonzo.
We already have two aging big contracts in Stanton and Judge. Yankees don't need another one in Alonzo.Yeah not a consolation prize or sticking it to the Mets option. I think fans see the numbers involved and generally aren't getting as passionate as they normally would, losing one of the best players in the game. I wish I felt the passion that Nick Turturro is showing. So I will say I would have been really happy of the Yankees re-signed Soto. Just so that's out there.
But now that they didn't, yeah, that'a ton of money and a ton of years for an average right fielder defensively, especially when you would have to keep Judge in center.
Trying to find a silver lining, go fill the other holes on the team, move Judge to RF, and be happy that Soto, other than back page headlines, can only hurt you in a World Series.
meh. i wouldnt have paid him. The mets were always going to pay more. Go out and use that money on more pitching and a first baseman. And seeing the mets are basically the same as the jets would anyone be surprised if he got hurt?
Hell no to Alonso
