2024-25 Yankees Off Season

Another once fantastic player in serious decline. Let's collect them all!
His stats for last year aren't great. Paying for a player's prior abilities once again?

What do you think they should of done then?
I don't run the team, but I'd rather they fill their needs at first and third with younger players than Goldschmidt or Arenado (if they bring him in also). Maybe that's Alonso or another younger guy with upside. I don't have a problem with Bellinger who is still only 28 and could find it again, and plays multiple positions. But riding with guys like this (or DJ, Donaldson or Rizzo when they were clearly shells of their former selves) never seems to work out very well.

Alonso would be nice but being realistic I think Goldschmidt might work out well.Good 2nd half last year could mean he still has some left in the tank.I think we are better off today than we would have been had Soto stayed with us.Still need a 2nd or 3rd baseman but our defense should really be improved.

Goldschmidt was the NL MVP two years ago. I bet he's going to be in contention for comeback player of the year in 2025.

Goldschmidt we can rent for a year.

We weren't getting Alonzo unless we locked him up to a multi-year deal at $20M+ per.

He's 37. I wouldn't be counting on it. I'm sure he's still serviceable, but his many excellent years are almost certainly behind him.

I get that, but he's a viable option if you don't want to do this dance every year. I would just prefer a longer term solution there.

You might be able to get a 3rd baseman on a long term deal now.Cant have everything

Gleyber's Day...

I remember in 2018-19 when he hit over .270 with 62 HRs, shortstop seemed solid for a decade. But "the best laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft a-gley." ;)

I'll show myself out ...

One of the more disappointing players. Had such a promising start and then regressed to a mid tier player.

Gleyber sealed his fate when he refused to play 3rd after the Jazz acquisition.I think most Yankee fans really liked Gleyber but he was as maddening of a player I can recall.Might not replace his offensive potential but won’t be hard to find a better defensive 2nd baseman.
