So that depends on where you want to stay. Close to the stadium and near the trolley that drops you there? Something like the Town and Country Resort that was just remodeled would be a good choice. Also, for the wives lots of shopping in the area(Mission Valley). You could also stay in Old Town and be right within walking distance of the trolley. Little Italy near downtown is a great neighborhood with incredible food and drink but really a place for kids but also on the trolley line. More fun for the kids would be to stay on Mission Bay. The Mission Bay Resort or the Hyatt Regency are great for kids. However, if you want a resort on the bay but also walking distance to the ocean, bars, restaurants and attractions like Belmont Park(great for kids) I'd stay at the Bahia or the Catamaran. If kids want to surf, boogey board and explore the ocean the Bahia or Catamaran would be great. North Park is the neighborhood I would stay in if food/drink/culture was the most important, not really a place for kids and the only hotel is the Lafayette which did just go under a 26 million dollar renovation and is beautiful. Also, the neighborhood is only about 5-7 miles from Snapdragon. You'd have to uber tot he stadium from here. At one point 30th street in North Park was the number one beer street in the US. Balboa Park is great for families. 15 museums plus the San Diego Zoo. Torrey Pines for a relatively easy hike and amazing views. The glider port near there is also a great place for lunch and amazing views. Coronado and La Jolla have incredible beaches. For snorkeling I would do La Jolla and check out the sea lions. Coronado is good for younger kids but older kids would probably get bored. Hope that's helpful, here for any other questions.
