He hasn’t displayed any power (.357 slugging percentage) and hardly ever walks (5.4 percent of the time). Starting in the first half of the year, the Mets have worked with him on his swing, and he had some decent months where his batting average hovered around .285. But rival evaluators are unimpressed with swing decisions. When Syracuse’s season ends, the Mets may call on him as a pinch runner, especially since he’s already on the 40-man roster, but if the club thought he could help in other ways, they would’ve offered him a chance already.
