Hiltz will probably be the most polarizing prospect in this draft. There will be those who say he just hasn't played enough box lacrosse over the last handful of years to really know how his game will translate to the pros. On the other hand, there will be those argue that we can see exactly how his game will translate — just look at his PLL season, and he's from the Boro and has the pedigree in box so we know he'll be good in box just like he has been in field.

This is probably lower than many folks have Hiltz listed. He has presented a conundrum to me in producing my rankings. Over the years, I have grown more confident in my own assessments of prospects and thus less inclined to be swayed by the opinions of other observers. My initial approach was to place Hiltz several spots lower because I just haven't seen enough of him playing high-caliber box lacrosse at the top levels of the game to be sure he is as good a prospect indoors as he is on the field. Enough coaches and GMs have gone to bat for Hiltz, though, that I elevated him up my list. He certainly has the skill and potential to excel in the box game. And his outstanding PLL season shows he is ready to play against the best men on the planet.

Hiltz's most recent stretch of box lacrosse was encouraging, as he scored 34 points in 12 games for the Lakers in the 2024 MSL playoffs. That was coming off a regular season, though, in which he scored just 23 points in 12 games. The ceiling is high for the talented lefty.
