I'm sure he feels it's unjust for the Chelsea Board to expect him to try to win the league without a proven number 9 and a proven, mature central defender.  We have everything else we need to make a run at the title (except maybe a better left wing, and a little better health from our midfielders).

He was bitch slapped by management about his demands - "Your job is to coach the players, that's all.  We decide who to buy and sell."

Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal do not hesitate to buy experienced players to offset the youth, provide them guidance and guile, and try to win a championship when the window presents itself.

Oh, boy. Don't believe he was fired. He saw that he was top of City's list, and he asked for a couple experienced players in the January window, and was harshly rebuffed.

I'm sure that Maresca doesn't think they are interested in winning a title, as much as they are addicted to buying young players like they are Pokemon cards.

After the loss in Italy to Atalanta in Champions League, I'll bet he got a harsh post-mortem following the game (which they used to do after every game, but that was the last time).  I will bet that Maresca probably said, "hey, you're not giving me what we need to win."  After they said, "That's not your job."

They don't do that at other top clubs.
