Selection Sunday is less than a month away.

Regular season ends April 17.

ACCT runs April 23-27.

Syracuse might have the toughest strength-of-schedule, but six losses are hard to overcome if it wants to be seeded …

10. Syracuse (9-6)

Top 5 Wins: None
Top 6-10 Wins: Stanford, Virginia, Maryland
Top 11-20 Wins: Loyola
Non Top-20 Losses: Clemson, Virginia Tech

That top 5 wins - None hurts. I don't see them getting by BC this week either.

Syracuse has three wins over RPI top-10 teams and can make it a fourth when it plays Stanford

Chapel Hill, N.C.
Duke vs. Navy
Winner plays at (1) North Carolina (ACC)

Baltimore, Md.
Mount St. Mary’s (MAAC) at (8) Johns Hopkins
Syracuse vs. Brown

Syracuse feels like it is flailing a bit, but since its latest loss was to Boston College, that doesn’t hurt them too badly; their RPI is 12th, and their early win against Maryland became a Top 10 win.

11. Syracuse (9-7)
RPI: 12
SOS: 1
Top 5 Wins: None
Top 6-10 Wins: Stanford, Virginia, Maryland
Top 11-20 Wins: Loyola
Non Top-20 Losses: Clemson, Virginia Tech

just not seeing them getting in at 9-7, no top 5 wins and 2 bad losses to teams outside the Top 20. If we are being totally honest with ourselves, we do not deserve it. Throw in an embarrassing 2-17 home loss to BC too.

A couple of key injuries completely derailed a promising season. It's a shame.
The best teams have some depth. Despite having some very good young players, recruiting has fallen off and it is showing.

Would you say the same thing about UNC in 2024? They seem to have rebounded nicely in 2025 from an even worse season than SU. Let’s see how BC does next season with the loss of their entire attack and other key members

I don't really follow UNC women's lax but IL's recruiting data base is at least suggestive of programs with very divergent trajectories. Compare https://www.insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/college/team/North+Carolina/64/2025 and https://www.insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/college/team/North+Carolina/64/2026 with https://www.insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/college/team/Syracuse/70 and https://www.insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/college/team/Syracuse/70/2026

Unless SU has a great deal of success in the portal, they may be in the process of falling into the second tier of top programs.

Picking next years class is not a fair sample given they had the number 1 and 5 recruits switch to Clemson. If you want to say this proves your point fine but there is nothing but rumors as to why Spallina switched and from what I have heard Eisfield was going where ever Soallina went regardless. There is still plenty of talk about Joe Spallina possibly going to Clemson as well to coach in some capacity after this season

That would be a slap in the face to Allison Kwolek.

And Joe isn't leaving SB to be just an assistant. Besides, he's now got a nice side gig as GM of the California Redwoods.

Might be exactly why he would leave. This rumor has been going around for almost a year. Supposedly Sydney Pirecca would take over as head coach. He openly spoke about having to make decisions for his family after the loss to Syracuse. What happens is anyone’s guess time will tell.

Syracuse is securely in the field but has too many losses to earn a seed and has dropped four of its last six

Nice to see the Orange will get two spots and thus, two opportunities to advance.
