Nice to see the team start to pull things together after the debacle in Pittsburgh. Winning 2 of 3 against Milwaukee was nice. They are a quality team I think will again make the playoffs. And winning 2 of 3 against the Yankees was encouraging, especially given they had their two best starters and we had Montas and a bunch of guys from Syracuse. The first 6 hitters are doing well and carrying the team. But we are getting next to nothing from the rest of the lineup. Happy to see Nimmo and McNeil hitting well for extended periods. On the, positive side, it looks like Marte might finally be waking up. And Mauricio might finally be figuring out how to hit the off speed breaking stuff everyone has been giving him. Great to see Soto dominating in a Met uniform. But we are getting next to nothing from the catcher position (other than top defense). I believe Alvarez has 4 HRs in five games in Syracuse and am guessing we will see him back in NYC soon. Maybe they wait until the All Star break to bring him back? Same thing in center field when Taylor is playing. He is in a deep funk. Not good. I wish we had left Vientos in Syracuse longer. He remains lost and appears clueless and a real mess. Sometimes you have to make choices based on what is best for the team and not want the players want. Baty is fielding really well at 3B and hitting okay. We get tomorrow off. Then 3 at Baltimore and 3 at Kansas City. And then the All Star break. Here is how the rotation looks for this stretch: Baltimore series Tuesday Holmes Wednesday Peterson Thursday Montas? Kansas City series Friday Justin Hagenman? Saturday Senga? Sunday Manaea? Last I read Blackwell is expected back in the rotation shortly post All Star game. Megill sounds like he is a couple of weeks away. I don’t think Tidwell can be called up for 10 days after his recent demotion. Bottom line, the starting rotation looks to be close to normal on the next week or so, assuming no more setbacks. Brooks Raley is pitching rehab in Syracuse and will probably rejoin the team after the All Star break. Butto has an illness and should be back at least by the end of the All Star break. Nunez is expected to have TJ surgery and be out for about a year. Ross is pitching well in Syracuse and is a reliever to keep an eye on. Throws it 99 mph and has a nasty slider. Winker has moved to Syracuse and I think k he had a homer today. I think he will be back with the Mets before the All Star break. Will the Mets make a big move? Rumors of a package deal with Bednar and Santana from the Pirates coming for Vientos. Not a fan of that idea.
