I thought the refusal to ‘reassign’ to DH was half his fault and half ownership/the manager/GM’s fault. They didn’t communicate well or effectively. And if they indeed told him to ‘throw away his mit,’ when it came time to consider a switch back to the field to play first… well, they had already screwed the situation and led him into the malcontent role.

That all said, I never read that he was a poison to the actual teammates or in the clubhouse. Can’t make a move like this ‘on principle’ (not a team player) when the management was partially culpable, [B][I]and[/I][/B] the move makes you a worse team.

Hope they have something lined up for the trade deadline, where we aren’t sellers. It’s getting very difficult to remain a Sawx fan. At this point, after being devoted since 1976, and watching 90%+ of the games since streaming happened, I now feel like I’m just a fan of the building—Fenway. They ‘lost/chased’ Mookie, Xander, and now Devers. That’s a lot of loss to sustain for a fan.
