Response - Yes that Q1 was hyper-tough compared to others. That being said San Diego St beat Houston. Indiana won at Michigan St. But let's give the benefit of the doubt. It's still 1-5 Q1 in the remaining Q1 games which is still not good.

Counter - UNC got the shaft due to being in the ACC (lack of Q1 opps) and more so because they didn't get Louisville or Clemson at home which are very gettable Q1 wins. They were better than 1-5, and that is still a little deceptive.

Response - UNC had two gettable Q1 road games (At Pitt, At Wake Forest). And I believe those road games should be Q1, since they are about 7 points harder than a home game. So they had limited really good opportunities to build on Q1, but they blew those 2 games as well.

[B]At some point you just need to win a game or two, even if they are hard ones. Yes, UNC got the negative ACC rub this year, and they had a huge imbalance in Q1 strength at the top.   Perhaps with a more varied Q1 OOC sched or a different ACC schedule they get have a resume that gets in - but we can't just assume things.   They had many chances to prove their case -- even just winning one extra Q1 game against a middling time like Pitt or Wake may have been enough. And they did not.[/B]
