Love to see Hiltz crushing it in the PLL, but this tweet is so off base IMO. Starting lefty attack, towards the top in the nation in points, lead the team in both shots and goals… it’s not like we hid him away. He was actually likely averaging the most ppg on our team against tougher competition, before going down at the end of the Cornell game and playing hurt during a crucial stretch of games. That stretch of Harvard to the Cornell game he was often our “focal point” in an offense with a lot of weapons. The PLL is a different animal, and while I hope any dimwits watching his performance there finally realize he CAN DODGE, he was never a Kirst or ONeill level cheat code in that category. Not on a level where the strategy should have always been let him clear out on an island against an elite longpole and go nuts every possession. Some games he would go off, others he could get bottled up against high level long poles and served us better with offball shooting or skip passes after a dodge from elsewhere. He was not always Mr. Consistent initiating/shooting on the run against the best of the best. Obviously haters will say we put him in the corner while trying to get Spallina all the glory, but anyone who watched our games knows that is just not true. If anything we tended to overly rely on midfield dodging in games where the offense was having trouble. It pains me that we could not win one with him, but there is a looong list of incredible talents that have come up short of a natty in college. Either way one thing is for sure, man oh man will he be missed next year. It’s really his passing that I think we will miss the most. Anderson or Leo could give us similar off the dodge and are no slouch as shooters, but they will have big shoes to fill as distributors from the left wing. His passing defined the overall style to our offense and he was so damn fun to watch. One of my all time favorite offensive players for cuse.
