2026 Conference Tournaments / The Teams Left Behind

I love conference tourney season. Lots of unusual names and matchups I would usually never see or care about unless it's out of sheer intrigue/pity (I'm looking at you Mississippi Valley State, Chicago State, and a shockingly competitive NJIT).

And no matter how bad SU is, there is always hope for a run.

I'm with you. I love the conference tournies (particularly for the 1 bid leagues). Every game is exciting and meaningful.

It's a really dumb rule about teams transitioning to D1. LeMoyne is tied for 2nd place in their conference. Why shouldn't they have a chance.
I think it's to make sure schools are really committed to being competitive at this level. Because quite frankly, there are a lot of schools that really have no business playing Div 1 if you look at the bottom of the list of 350 or so.

But I definitely agree that it sure does stink for the schools who are good enough right away.

But you only need to be equal or better than your conference opponents.
