Joey Spallina is the headliner and most scruitinized player in the college game. His playmaking, vision, outside shooting and high IQ makes him the perfect No. 22 for 'Cuse fans. The gripe has always been his displays in big-time games and his season last year against top matchups like Notre Dame's Shawn Lyght in the regular season and taking Princeton's Colin Mulshine literally out of the Quarterfinal matchup with his four goals off the dodge proved he can show up when it matters most. When they finally started sliding early, he proved he can take what the defense gives him. Will Schaller, of course, proved otherwise in the semifinals, which makes this weekend so enticing. Thomson fought through an injury and missed a handful of games and looks to be back to his prime self, while Payton Anderson's bully-ball style of play is a change of pace from the Owen Hiltz days. He missed the game vs. Saint Joseph's but could be back in time for Maryland; if not, expect Michael Leo to slot down there like he did last weekend.
