I think we are arguing two different things. As Marlo Stansfield once said said, "you want it one way, but it's the other". Or something like that. I'm trying to ask, what was the plan, if UVA didn't have the injuries this year? I understand you probably don't want to argue that because what's the point. I get it. What I think the strategy should have been is to recruit more midfielders, and less attackmen. I know it's not that simple. You get a 2 for 1 with both the Colsey and Millon families, so that's four right there. If a five star has their heart set on UVA, you don't really turn that down (Dunkle had family connections, etc). I get it. But I feel like UVA's strategy was to recruit really good offensive players, and worry about positions later. I know you say, "well the other ACCs took them all" - but didn't UVA take Millon from Duke? I find it hard to believe they were just fighting over the other three teams' scraps. If no injuries (again, maybe a pointless exercise, but I think it's helpful to look at a team's strategy), going into next year they were due to have: Dunkle, McCabe Millon, Brendan Millon, Sean Browne, Ryan Colsey, Kyle Colsey and Sunderland all natural attackmen. Maybe Lars knew which guys he wanted playing midfield and had a plan, but that still seems like a crowded clubhouse! Curious what you think the depth chart looks like for next year?
