20th anniversary of 1996 team

I agree with what the Coach has said many times "that Kentucky team was one of the best of all times". Yes, we had a good run and went further than I thought they would.

I really hope the University does something this year to honor that incredible run -- or perhaps they'll wait until the 25th anniversary.

(I can't believe it's been 20 years)

For the athletic dept that screws up simple things like players names on retired jerseys I shudder to think how they'll screw this up

I was there

Charleston, SU-GA, first time away with the eventual wife, I insisted on taking a break from the indoor-festivities (wink, nudge!) to find a big screen somewhere for the 2nd half and eventual overtimes. She knew what she was getting into right there!

Isn't that the game John Wallace hit a last second long shot?

Yes it sure is. John saved me from hearing a lot of crap from my friends since I lived in Georgia at the time.

I apologize. I just skimmed this post at first and for a second was convinced it said "first three way with the eventual wife".

Here's the inbounds pass and shot to get OT:

This game certainly has to rank in the Top 5 of all time Syracuse basketball games.
Nowadays I imagine there is little to almost no way that pass gets through.

Is it just my imagination or did SU fans not wear nearly as much Orange at both home and away games in the 90s as they do now?

Many of us did, but you are right that there was nowhere as much as today. Fair amount of blue with orange trim.letters as well.

That was such as awesome run. Without looking I recall the first 2 games being somewhat underwhelming (being relieved to have advanced) but once we hit Denver the excitement began. I remember giggling like a child with my old man as we closed out the Mississippi State game. We were going to the championship game, how was it possible? What a run. Especially since it came a year after the Arkansas game and on the heels of a decent but not great regular season. 2nd favorite Syracuse team ever. All because of a couple weeks in March

Yes and Cipolla hit that insane falling out of bounds corner shot to send it to OT. Off one of the craziest inbounds passes of all time!

Here's the end of the game. Incredible sequence:

Incredible. And Lazarus Sims'(a non-shooter to say the least) back to back 3's to help get us back in the game was one of my favorite things that ever happened. .

Astute. Those were HUGE plays in that comeback.

Otis Hill's reaction on the floor is the greatest!

You are not wrong. Any old pic or video proves it. I think it's just more available to us now. This pic is from 2002. It hasn't been very long.

The best thing about 1996 was money was actually worth something!
