Three games into last season I *knew* it was a lost year. That was month 8 of a 12 month long catastrophe that began in April of 2024 and lasted through March 2025. The program was an utter failure in all aspects.

Three games into this season and I *know* this squad has near limitless potential. We have answers at every spot on the floor. We can do a multitude of things well. We’re playing with focus and intensity.

Will we fulfill that potential? That’s TBD. But the pieces are all there.

This is the first time I’ve been genuinely optimistic about SU hoops since prior to the 2019 season. It’s wonderful.

I haven’t had this type of optimism for SUMBB since 2015. A literal decade of feeling like we had to punch up against good teams.

We have everything to beat good teams and BE a good team. If we continue to lock in defensively and play to our potential I can absolutely see this team being top 25 good.

last year our first 3 games were a 4pt win against LeMoyne, 2pt win against Colgate, and 2OT vs Youngstown State.

Really blowing out bad teams (in your first 3 games) is not a guarantee of significant success. But promising.

Winning them by a total of 7 points is a pretty definitive statement about your limits for that year.

Very based. And yeah as great as today was there is certainly more to fix as well that better and more athletic teams will take advantage of. Cautiously optimistic, today was a step up from Binghamton and Delaware State and they passed a test. A similar test on Tuesday.

Was at game today. First time seeing them in person (though did see a little bit of a practice). There is so much different about this group. Athleticism. Speed. Talent. Effort. Defensive intensity. red seems more active on the sideline. They even warm up before the game differently and are a lot more engaged and intense. We’re going to stub our toes at times but this team has a lot of potential. Alex deserves major kudos on the roster construction.

What’s great to see is the style that Red wants to play. I think we can all agree this style is fun and exciting. This is the first time we’ve really been able to see Red’s vision. He played a lot of guys last year, but they just weren’t at the level we have to have. Jessie jumping ship his first year totally screwed up that team. Plus, he counted on JB’s recruits and several didn’t pan out. I hope it continues to go well

It is only 3 games, but I feel completely the same. Very optimistic about this season and the future, with this focus on defense and interchangeable parts.

I feel really good about Kansas. Houston, we will have to see.

Houston has little to nothing they get in bench production but that starting 5 is solid even if two of them are freshmen.

My goal this year was to just be comfortable on selection Sunday on getting in -- no worrying about seeding.

I stg, if we win one or two games out in Vegas, I'm telling you right now I'm going to be insufferable and say we're making the Final Four and Kiyan will be the best Frosh in the NCAA.

Why do I do this to myself? I don't know. But I love this team.

Yeah this is where I am. I keep trying to find the obvious wet blanket .. which the halftime score of Drexel was working it’s way to being then came the second half lol.

Now add in a Houston team that is damn good , yet more vulnerable than the past few years, a much weaker Kansas team , a weaker but strong Tennessee and its like holy hell could we have one of those old school crazy early season non conference runs where we lock in a ranking and sure fire likely tourney birth by mid December?

At least for now we should finish four games in with a real hope which is more than I can say for a number of recent seasons.
