That's tough.

Lost at BC already this year.

Gait can't be happy about this.

Poor planning by SU, it appears.

how many rooms are they expecting travelers would need? bc fball brings 200 how many would lax bring? and its am east drive too

OCC graduates that weekend.

Lemoyne is the following weekend.

Too early for High Schools.

:noidea:

SU should have reserved rooms.

Simple.

Someone screwed up.

so su men play sunday is no conflict, but su women playing sunday is?

There has to be more to the story.

The "host" team has to host a 1st round game on Friday. It's no big deal for Albany to jump on a bus Sunday for 2 hours, but it might be a problem for both BC and Stonybrook to bus in on Friday, play, and the winner has to stay through Sunday if someone forgot to set aside rooms.

This has NEVER been a problem all the other times that SUWLAX has been a host.

As a No. 4 seed, SU should have hosted the game. But it couldn’t because the Syracuse University athletic department couldn’t secure the required block of rooms that the NCAA mandates, said assistant director of athletic communications Susie Mehringer. One big problem that led to this was both Syracuse’s and Colgate University’s commencement ceremonies being held this weekend.

“We’ve had challenges in the past, but usually we’ve only been up against Syracuse’s graduation, whereas this year there are other schools in the area that have their graduation ceremonies as well,” Mehringer said.

The NCAA rules state that all hotels booked for the event had to be within 30 miles from campus, Mehringer said. Additionally, the SU athletic department had to be able to reserve rooms for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

The athletic department has been working on finding rooms “for months,” Mehringer said. On May 6, the NCAA was notified that Syracuse could not find enough rooms in the area.

This is why we can't have nice things, like a hoops final four.

Yeah, good point. Could you imagine.

Sorry, but we'll be having a Final 3 only this year.

Just don't schedule the Final Four during Monster Jam week. ;)

OK. I am pretty dense.. but arent there like 10K empty dorm rooms you could use? maybe thats not allowed? a nice frat house would work too.

This isn't quite correct. Final Four requires an availability of a certain number of hotel rooms, yes. The greater Syracuse area does not even meet the existence of the required number of rooms, let alone the availability.

It was a joke.
