After watching BC beat Clemson at home last night and seeing how much better FSU is playing, we’ll be lucky to win either of the next two games. Do you really expect winning at Pitt? Don’t forget the previous final against Pitt was very misleading. SU was down over twenty at home. They were soundly beat last year at Pitt. Could SU win 7/8? Maybe, but they will be lucky to win half of those games, which would be typical ACC season finishing 10-10.

Yeah. It’s beyond put-up-or-shut-up time. But hope always springs eternal. I will say the team is decent and should finish with a winning record (barring a total downward spiral) and has a foundation to build on for next season. But the close losses to Pitt, Miami and UNC were killer. If we pulled out those 3 we’d be in the conversation for a bid (with more work still to do, of course). We’re now in Hail Mary territory—win 7 of the next 8 or win the ACC tourney.

I will say the team is decent and should finish with a winning record (barring a total downward spiral) and has a foundation to build on for next season. But the close losses to Pitt, Miami and UNC were killer. If we pulled out those 3 we’d be in the conversation for a bid (with more work still to do, of course). We’re now in Hail Mary territory—win 7 of the next 8 or win the ACC tourney.

Agreed. As for JB…. Would I like him to lean into analytics and run a more dynamic and complex offense? Yes. Would I like the 100 percent zone defense to go away? Yes of course. But I’m less annoyed about JB’s in-season coaching and more annoyed about his off-season moves and the continued failure of roster construction. It was the height of malpractice to go into this season with a small forward rotation consisting of Bell and Taylor. They both have nice upside but they’re FRESHMAN. Come on, JB. Pitch Cole Swider on coming back this year with NIL dough and we’re easily a solid tourney squad. Or better yet, add a athletic, high-level small forward from the portal who can knock down 3s and attack off the bounce, and we’re competing for an ACC title. It’s not that difficult. But JB continues to be utterly complacent in putting together a high-level roster in the off-season that can compete for ACC titles.
