robinson tied it and topped it

last time anyone had more than 7 before that was 72-73

you have to go back to 1948-49 before that

Mac was 8-18-1 against "BCS" teams in his first 3 years ... including a 2-4 record against Temple and Rutgers.

Things got better.

Millhouse you're going to shut your very negative mouth very soon this team is the best in over ten years and will end up with a good record. Nasssib will break all kinds of records doing it.

i guess you didn't find that interesting.

Wah wah wah! What do you want for us to break the record here 2 and lose next week?

This team is 0-2, last years team was 5-7 losing their last 5. This team is not last years team, this team has lost 2 games in a row.

Agreed. Looking forward to stringing together some wins to end this talk once and for all.

Next week he is playing a scrub team, so it doesnt impact the record. Although, if he loses in two weeks some sort of party ought to be thrown in his honor for reaching a level of incompetence that America hasnt been seen for 60+ years.

yeah, but these are all 'good' losses and moral victorys. plus the kids are getting a great lifes education.

Oh Lord

when you have losing streaks this long, there is a good chance that it overlaps years

oh how i wish every year were truly independent of prior years.

2005 robinson lost 9 in a row but had an 11 game losing streak, because he lost the 1st 2 in 2006.

We are nowhere near the bottom line at this point.
i imagine that some people want to when that bottom line date will be. i imagine they don't want to just keep punting it away further.

i think we'll know in 2014. i hope marrone sees the light for situations where you only have seconds to make a decision. i flip out because i think the types of decisions he makes under the gun will hurt us later. I think he's good in situations where you have weeks and months. i think he's not very smart but if he can recruit, that's fine with me. i'm beaten down by the stupidity of this game in general. but if he's not lights out recruiting, he'll need to smarten up.

I think people are far too sensitive about this stuff. All the original post points out is that we haven't been very good the last calendar year. There's not really an argument against that. And if DM doesn't start winning over the course of the next few months then Millhouse and the like will have far more friends on this board. That's all it is -- it's a historic low, to some degree, and it sucks. But it doesn't mean you can't get excited about the potential of this team to not only end that streak but maybe make a pretty decent run at a bowl. I'm just excited that we've decided to start playing offense again.

Bottomline he is 9-22 against BCS competition.

The only quibble I have with this -- and I agree, we have to start beating teams like NW if we ever want to be a BCS bowl caliber team again -- is that it excludes any shred of context. For example, we all knew this was going to be a bit of process, so being well under .500 vs. BCS teams isn't really all that surprising. Also, let's be honest, plenty of teams lose to non-BCS opponents -- ask Arkansas. So while it's not sexy to beat an Akron or someone, we've lost (and many other teams have lost) to those types of schools in the very recent past. Discounting those wins is misleading, IMO.

Marrone is finally starting to get athletes on both sides of the ball who can run his offense, ans shafers defense. On defense we need a couple of Safties like Darius and Jones, guys were fast and mean. Jones could chase down a receiver, and hit him so hard he didn't want to be back on the field. Darius wasn't quite as fast but meaner

Um...and that needs to be said over and over? Is there anyone on this board who does not know this?

Again, from an objective standpoint the decision to punt was sound - 13 minutes to go - the defense had had its moments - field position remains a very important part of the game.

I would argue that any decision to bring any of our special teams units onto the field at any point in any game except when absolutely, unequivocally necessary, is the definition of insane. I'm not in on crucifying DM for the call since, generally I could understand the logic. But, I think our logic and general opinion of how we deploy specials from this point forward has to change. If we have some confidence in our offense and defense, then just go with them and minimize the damage our specials can do to us.

No question.

Special teams have been very disappointing - very frustrating.

Even the pootch punts by Dixon didn't work on Saturday.

Got to get better!
