7 sacks, 11 TFls, 9 QB Hurries..

38 yards rushing from our running backs...looks like the box scores from last year before the line stabilized...

Head coach, OC, QB...none of it matters if the guys up front can't block...
That’s not indicative of the time we had in most throwing scenarios. No push in the run game, I concede that. But we had time to spin the rock.

It was far from "great", but just looking at the box score isn't enough in this instance. The run game I am not defending, but there were plenty of opportunities to make throws. Yes, 7 sacks. It was not nearly as bad as many games last year in terms of time to make a decision.

At the end of the day... you're just not going to have 10 seconds every drop back to make a throw.

There were times last year where we saw mistakes by individual OLmen or where we saw breakdowns across the line. But how many times today while watching the game did you say WTFudge OL? For myself it didn’t really happen. It was usually “really that is the play call?”, “it would be nice if we ran something besides a dive”, “that wasn’t an easy catch but you still need to do better there. Wish Tommy had a little more touch to help them out”, “he has zero pocket awareness”, “he needs to make a quicker read/decision or get rid of the ball”, “why does he only throw the ball away on 4th down?”

The box score is extremely misleading for a variety of reasons. If you're running HB Dive all day instead of sweeping and countering and letting your guards and tackles run in space, you're going to get those numbers. Also have to consider that in college, sacks are negative rushing yards, not passing. No Jawhar and Markenzy didn't bring much to the stat line, but it's hard to point the finger at them.

The line wasn't great, but it wasn't a total trainwreck. There are throws that Tommy has to make and there are balls that receivers have to catch. The dropped touchdown was reminiscent of Sean Riley's drop at LSU to close the half. Syracuse had outplayed them the same way they outplayed UNC for most of the game. It all fell apart in the same manner towards the end of the third. Tommy has to be better and the receivers need to be better.

I'm not excusing them though. There were plays when they lost track of who to block and Devito would be brought down before you could say she sells seashells by the seashore. Today was not a good day.

I was more upset with the run blocking, the pass blocking was ok most of the time. Most of the sacks were coverage sacks or our QB is incapable of finding secondary receiver sacks. You can’t tell on tv unless they show the end zone camera replay.

The OL’s still a major issue. We noticed it less today because during the glaring instances Tommy tucked and ground out 7 or so yards.

As many other QB’s around the country would do. Just saying.
