I’m currently fighting an infestation of German Yellow Jackets. Got in through a hole in the cinder blocks surrounding the rear fireplace.

I’ve gotten hundreds and hundreds with a shop vac (filter pulled/water in the basin). Now they’ve gotten a bit smarter and are entering the back living room under the brick of the fireplace hearth.

Even spraying, and stimulating them from the exterior no longer gets them out that exit point. This portion of the House was an addition at some point, so there’s only a crawl space underneath it.

Just don’t have the marbles to pin myself in that 18 inch crawl space 30 feet or so from the entrance to the main basement chamber.

Anybody else have a similar problem? Looking for solutions to get the queen. Think I’ve gotten most of the colony.

Strong record thus far, I’m like 879-3. One little bastard got stuck in my pants and got me a couple of times!

I can only speak for myself but there are times that I realize I’m in over my head and call in a professional... this may be one of those times

Right now, they're in my hardiplank. I've used a specialized dust but that only took care of the problem for a week. Prior problems, I've had to call an expert have them smoked out. I'm going to have to call them again, it seems.

I’m stubborn as a mule, eventually I think I’ve got to get in the crawl space.

I once had a yellow jacket infestation in which every single light fixture was loaded with them. Hundreds and hundreds. Was finding dead ones many months later. So that was fun.

You probably had a nest in your attic. I had a huge problem in my house years ago. Came home and found about a 100 of them on a window in my family room (window was about 22 ft up). Found huge honeycombs in the ceiling joists.

If you don’t notice them, within 4/5 years they can multiply into the 10’s of thousands, it’s insane. I’m easily around 1,000 vacced up right now. And this was their first year there.

I peaked into the crawl space, no sign of them from my vantage point. Think they may be limited to that section of blocks, so that’s a positive. I’m going to wait for one more really hot day and work the vacc for a couple more hours. Then I’ll plug the hole as we start to get hard frosts.

They’re nasty for sure. Neighbors caught a show when one got up my shorts, played a little pin the tail on the jack@ $$, and I ripped them off in the yard.

Life is fun.

You get in there and report back soldier.

If you know their entrance/exit maybe great stuff foam spray or caulk and just seal them in. If they can’t get out they’ll die that way to.

They're like ants, they'll find a way to get out or go somewhere else. I've found them in electrical outlet boxes before.
