A look at the Stony Brook Seawolves

LOL with that write up you would think Kramer was talking about USC, jesus.
Seems to be a mostly running team which matches up well with our defense.

Not USC, but would like to get to the point where writers look at our team and say "loads of playmaking talent creates the potential for an exciting offense".
The WR transfer from Maryland was a legit 4 star recruit; any RB who put up 2000 yards in two years with Iowa is a player and he might be their second RB; and their QB was part of an 8 game win streak and a strong finish to their season.
Won't be a walk over.

Based on our results the past few years against 1AA's I dont think most on this board are looking at this game as a walk in the park. I wasnt aware of the Maryland transfer but did hear about the Cal RB transfer so they definitely have some skill position player talent. I wonder how good there lines are though, sounds like they lost a lot from the D line and I would assume there O line isnt exactly Boston Colleges alumni team.

Hipster dog thinks you guys are so mainstream.

Great picture. That Stony Brook game could be a good test of the SU defense from a running game standpoint, seems there entire O is set on establishing the run and that Iowa RB transfer seems legit.

Just people trying to justify our own weaknesses and have a ready made reason why we don't win handily. They are an FCS team. We should not be worrying about this game.

If we lost that game it would be time to start firing coaches.

You just can't let them hang around, come out fired up, get them down, play loose and step on their ing throat, the longer you let them hang around the worse it gets. Made that mistake versus URI last year

Yup and against a run oriented team like Stony Brook with several D1 transfers its a recipe for disaster. SU should win by 3 touchdowns + but if the team and the staff start dicking around like last year and let this team hang around and have the ball all game were asking for disasterous trouble.

This guarantees they will throw for 426 yards. ;)

LOL its funny you say that I cant remember if it was last year or two years ago but the 1AA team we played changed its entire offense from one week to the next because we were somewhat susceptible to the spread, it might have been Maine. I think with SB its clear there going to try to run with that Iowa transfer and that other kid who is a Walter Payton nominee. I know they have that Maryland WR transfer but I dont see where he is some big time player who had to transfer for other reasons like the Iowa kid.

And Tulane.

People this is still SUNY Stony Brook right? Isn't that enough info to end the thread?

I remember people talking up that Coxson guy from Maryland up (maybe Alec lemon's Dad?)-How'd he end up at Stony brook?

If we lost that game it would be time to start firing coaches.

If we lose to Stonybrook, the hotseat under Marrone would go full nuclear....

You can't just beat the heck out of them unless you're faster, bigger and stronger...we're getting there and you're right, SU made too many silly mistakes vs RI and I'll add a bad Tulane team as well. SU needs to crush their souls and make them wish they never scheduled them. Christ, our D could not stop RI or Tulane in the second half and I really believe that this defense will be different and give the ball back to the offense quicker than last years version. That clock eating giving up big play defense can never return to the hill again.

I agree there are no excuses here, this isn't even a MAC team or something, get it in and get it done, lots of 2nd teamers by the 4th, anything less is unacceptable. I don't expect to really compete with USC but I certainly expect to beat Stony by 17 points minimum. I would hope at year 4 we are at least at that level. We shuld not have to get cute to do it either

The intimidation of 22K empty seats should set the tone for the game. It's games like this when the fans that are there sit and watch and we have absolutely no noise from the seats...it's like watching a tennis match and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if the players feel that silence as well and play just as flat.

Agree 100%, if this game is in doubt by the start of the fourth quarter this team has huge problems.

To be brutally honest it's the lack of anything to cheer about that puts the fans in a coma.

Orangeyes...I believe in being proactive instead of reactive. I do get what you're saying but I'd just like to see the fans help set the tone for the dome and help pump up these players of ours.

I get what you are saying but the Syracuse offense has done very little over the past decade to energize the fans. Those in attendance sit there and react like Pavlov's dogs to the lack of stimulation that they have been conditioned to. Even in basketball where there is excitement galore SU fans tend to sit back and wait for something positive to happen before they get going. I 100% agree with you in the wish that fans become more proactive and pump up the players.

Those fans complaining about the product that has been put on the field the last 12 years are not only entitled to their opinion but in most ways justified, want more fans win games and put a better brand of football on the field, pretty plain and simple. marrone knows this and why he has gone dark in a lot of ways, what will change the attendance is wins and a better team. It's pretty cut and dry. 4 points wins versus 1aa teams won't get it done
