A new look at college football tempo

Interesting thing about that chart - the Top 12 (includes SU) has 9 teams with a losing record. Maybe the hurry-up isn't the panacea so many coaches believe it is.

All of the pace of play statistics merit out that ultimately talent > scheme in terms of W/L record.

While 100% true - it's a bit simplistic read of the stats. It's not that talent < scheme. We didn't hire Babers and we don't root for Babers believing that's true. No one here has even made that case.

Scheme can and already has helped close the gap between Syracuse and the more talented teams (most of the ACC). It provides distinct advantages to those with less talent, but it's not possible to ever bridge the gap completely (as the more talented teams can take the same scheme and apply it for the age-old way you always maximize your chance to win: talent + scheme/coaching.)

The way to be good is to marry a good scheme with great talent. In the past we've had poor offensive scheme and low end talent.

The question we're answering in hiring Babers is "What comes first? Good scheme or good talent?" - and it's the right choice, IMO.
