What I really really like is the intensity that SU plays on defense. The 2009-2010 and this team seem committed to defense and floor burns. In the past 3 years I think I've seen more players go to the floor to fight for a loose ball than I have since Mike Hopkins himself played and before him too. Watching Fab throw himself on the floor to gain possession of a loose ball is so impressive.Dion, CJ etc don't hesitate going to the mat for a possession. Whether it's a combination of an increasing influence of Mike Hopkins aggressive, competitive, intense coaching (a reflection of how he played) and JB coaching with Coach K in the Olympics who always emphasized defensive intensity, I really enjoy watching these kids play and play hard. Well done. I'm a bit worried how back loaded SU's schedule is. Hoping we stay healthy and committed. Our last 7 games of the regular season include Georgetown, Louisville twice, UConn twice and a pretty tough USF team. Staying focused and healthy is so important. Hopefully playing so many bodies should really help us not wear down and be as vulnerable to late season injuries as our competitors.
