Take a look at the espn college hoops homepage. Unless I'm mistaken (certainly a decent chance of it) I've noticed that since they overhauled the site several months ago Calipari is the only coach whose twitter activity is featured on the right-hand, er, twitter column - all the others are journos, espn folks and other talking heads.
What is up with that?

He is the only coach on saw on there. That isn't cool.

yeah and it's not just today, either. Like I said, I've been paying attention to it for months and he is the only coach I've seen on there.

I am not shocked, but it shouldn't be allowed. Every coach has a twitter account whether they are the one sending out the messages or not.

I'd be willing to bet it's not actually his Twitter account, it's just someone (Andy Katz, Paul Biancardi, whoever) that is retweeting him. Calipari tweets a lot more than most coaches, and I see him getting retweeted constantly. I don't remember ever seeing anyone else ever really get retweeted.

Take a look (you have to scroll down a bit) - it's his direct twitter - yeah they have Katz and others retweeting certain coaches but the slime is the only coach they directly feature.

That could still be a retweet. I've worked with Twitter being integrated to websites like that, and that's often how retweets look on sites.

so then why aren't they retweeting other coaches like that? I realize he probably has the biggest twitter presence of any coach, but I know for a fact that lots of coaches do indeed tweet stuff by now... dunno, just seems awfully strange to me

Because they are an entertainment network and are only retweeting what they believe people are interested in. They don't have any obligation to be equal opportunity retweeters, other coaches should be more interesting. I bet if Tom Crean sent more creepy man boy love tweets to recruits they'd feature him on there too.

True, but they are telling people what to follow. It used to be basketball coaches coached basketball and recruits went to schools where the coaches made them better basketball players and better people. Slowly it has become something altogether different and the master of ceremonies is Caliperi. He is more freaking PT Barnum than Bob Knight.

so espn believes no other coach would be of any interest to college hoops followers nationwide?

This surprises you from the network that thinks people are only interested in LeBron James, the Patriots, the Cowboys, Duke basketball, Alabama football, and Yankees/Red Sox games?

Well, it does and it doesn't.
But for sure it p*sses me off bigtime. I don't think it's exaggerating to say it's yet another recruiting advantage for him.
the slimeball and the 4-letter mothership

I dunno, I think Cal's reign of terror is ending. Duke has proven that multiple top guys will go to other schools. I know that sounds like rooting for Duke recruiting, but it isn't. Cal's failure more often than not to get rings with the all-star teams he has recruited seems to have taken the shine off a little bit.

Kentucky is "only" bringing in three five star recruits this year, and just had four guys go in the lottery. I'm going to wait a little longer to throw dirt on them.

They were spurned by quite a few of their top targets. I didn't say they were in the grave, I said the shine has come off some.

His tweet from 25 minutes ago is up there and was not retweeted by any journalist let alone anyone working for ESPN.

That's not fair. I've seen them cover Brett Favre and Tiger Woods too.

ESPN's preoccupation with UK has been evident for a while. But in the last 2 seasons it has become a total leg-humping festival.

It took k some years to hone his cheating skills (Magette, jewelry dude), but now coach k is eclipsing cal in signing one semester frauds
