That's what Dickie V. is suggesting.

I'm in favor. I'm sure JAB is opposed. Maybe when he retires?

You NEVER erect statues of living people (unless you are the USSR or Penn State). And look at what's happened to all those Stalin statues and the JoePa statue.

Seriously, statues should never be erected until after some has died (or at least has long since retired) ... and a little history has passed.

you forgot Saddam. Mad statues in Bagdad... he's done well for himself.

There WILL be a statue one day in front of the new stadium like MJ in front of the United Center

I once had a hospital client which had a statue of the (then current) Board President sitting in the main lobby. The hospital reputedly had mob connections and I met the Board Prez - bit of a scary dude.

beat me to it

It's starting to become more common in the sports world. Here are some examples:

Auburn football statues

Florida Heisman statues
Yes, and there are the Hank Aaron and Stan Musial statues. But the Musial statue was erected several decades after he retired, and neither was erected while they were active players. And not everyone in Cincy is exactly thrilled with Pete Rose Way (or whatever it is called) in front of the Reds' stadiuim

This topic is a non-starter.

Unless the statue will be in front of the Denny's on Erie Boulevard.

Are you sure that you don't mean the Denny's or the Waffle House in Greensboro?

A little throwback, but did you ever see the "Where's my dinner, beech?" statue Tom Green made of his dad and put in their front yard? JB should have one like that, raring back to back hand a local scrub reporter.

I Waffle Housed it 2 days ago in Florida. Aaah ... the waitresses.

Heh heh she said erect.

Bama already has a statue of Nick Saban, and he's been there for like 5 years...seriously though, he already has as a statue.

I just assumed Syracuse hasn't done one yet because in 5 years it would be in front of some random Dorm, or starbucks once the Carrier Dome is flattened

Every coach who wins a title at Bama has a statue. Gene Stallings has a statue. RT.

Naming a court for a legend while he is still coaching shows respect and gratitude. But a statue? That is to close to idol worship for me. Someday yes, but now? No way no day. Just my humble opinion.

well i guess Syracuse can do one for every coach who wins a National Championship. I have no problem with that reasoning

Stallone "The Italian Stallion" got a statue, and he's still alive. Probably the greatest boxer to ever live.
