Don't let this loss create a loss to Notre Dame. It's tough to compartmentalize huge emotional games like yesterday, but they need to be ready to just let it go and prep hard for Notre Dame. It's going to be another highly emotional and energetic atmosphere next week. They've got to be ready for it. If yesterday showed us anything - it's that this team can compete and beat any team remaining on our schedule. Hell, for two and a half quarters, they weren't only staying with a CFP team, they were dictating the terms of the engagement. They have to be able to look within themselves and realize that going into bowl season with just one loss is absolutely a realistic outcome; as long as they continue to prepare as they have in the first seven games. Bring that confidence and MOB mentality, and don't let this game become a hangover that lasts for two weeks, and they'll be okay. Some other notes about the game - yeah, the roughing call sucked, but the call that actually won the game for Clemson was the pass interference in the end zone. That extended the drive and led to a field goal. If they don't take that extra time off the clock and get three more points, SU is in a position to kick a field goal for the win, instead of scrambling for a touchdown. You can say what you want about that particular play, but 9 times out of 10 that's not called. It wasn't egregious, and he actually was in a much better position than the Clemson dude who simply ran into Damien Alford on the sidelines on the last drive (the play that ended up being a catch after review). With that said, SU had its chances. Despite the roughing calls and the PI call - SU squandered a ton of opportunity. Those two things don't have to be mutually exclusive. The refs put a dagger in the team's side, but in the end, it was SU that ended up stumbling and falling on it. Either way - the Orange showed the NATION yesterday what we already knew here. This team can compete with anyone. They probably garnered more national respect in a loss than they had in the 6-0 start. Sure it's a hollow victory, but I think they changed perception nationally yesterday.
