ACC gets upgrades at offices
• The league expects the $1.1M project at the Grandover Business Park to be finished by September.

GREENSBORO › The ACC is undergoing a $1.1 million project to expand and renovate its headquarters at the Grandover Corporate Park, the Triad Business Journal reports.

The league, which officially expanded to 15 members July 1 with the additions of Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse, will add 4,200 square feet to its current office space, including new offices and more room for video production and game-day operations.

The ACC has about 50 employees — 45 full-time staff members and five year-round interns — and has made new hires in the compliance, business and championship departments, senior associate commissioner of public relations and communications Amy Yakola told the Journal.

The league is expected to have about 23,000 square feet of office space in its two-story headquarters once the project is completed.

ACC senior associate commissioner for finance and administration Jeff Elliott told the Journal that the project is expected to be complete by early September.

The game operations suite is a place for the league office to watch games in real time to monitor the performance of its officials, survey branding opportunities and hear what announcers are saying about the ACC and its teams.

The video-editing suite allows the league to focus more attention on archiving live broadcasts of ACC games, putting out video highlights and sound bites and producing original content.

With the ACC exploring the possibility of its own network — one that would need enough programming to fill a daily schedule — that’s an attractive upgrade.

We’ve basically outgrown the space that we were in before,” Elliott said. “We had desks in hallways, lacked storage space and, as technology has changed, we have some new technology needs now that we didn’t have nine years ago. We’re able to incorporate all those things in this one renovation.”
