There are 3 contract bowls: OB, Rose, Champs, which each host a playoff once every 3 years.
 
There are 2 playoff bowls where top teams are selected by committee.
 
There is one additional access bowl to accommodate the Big 5 conference top team assuming they are not in the playoffs, when they are bumped out of their home contract bowl every 3 years or a top ranked at large team(s), which would also be selected by committee..
