Should the ACC try to develop something similar to the CIC?

I am curious as to why no other conferences have tried to copy it.

The ACC has the ACCIAC, which is modelled after the CIC of the Big Ten. Donna Shalala from the University of Miami has been leading the effort to grow the reach of the ACCIAC. I've attached the website. The ACC is taking an International Flavor with its consortium. It's not as research centric focused as what the Big Ten has, and it's not as established of course. But it is at a place where it can be built upon to do some of the very same things that the Big Ten does.

They already have - it's called the ACCIAC (Inter-institutional Academic Collaboration). It's not as well-established as the CIC but serves some similar purposes.

Keep in mind the make-up of the member institutions though and you will see a critical difference. The CIC is comprised (largely) of land-grant universities (CIC has 8 - 10 if you include Maryland and Rutgers; while ACCIAC has 4 including Maryland). The research influences in the CIC are much different than ACCIAC.
