First, I never said SU ignored higher rated players. I was commenting on the "analysis" by another coach, probably an assistant at Clemson or FSU, who does not understand why recruits aren't falling in SU's lap like they are for those schools. The insinuation being that if SU simply changed its approach, they would also be flush with four and five star players.

That being said, We should look at the best system for the players we can bring to SU year in and year out. If that means we need to play "meathead" football because that lends to the strength of the players we are able to consistently recruit, fine. If that means taking a 2 star from Rochester instead of a 2 star from Tampa, I say do it so that SU makes inroads with the local programs so when there is a diamond in the rough, he wants to play for SU instead of Pitt or BC.

Trying to implement an offense that needs a higher caliber, more athletic player than Syracuse is currently able to consistently recruit, however, is a recipe for disaster. When Dino has players for his system, it is fun to watch and successful. When he does not, the three and outs that only take 45 seconds off the clock are painful to watch and, I assume, for the defense exhausting.
