With Virginia beating Virginia Tech.
Every team in the last 7 years will have a division title.
Talk about parity and mediocrity in one division.
It just sucks Pitt got put into the Coastal and we got put in the Atlantic division.

Also Notre Dame would own that division if they ever joined the conference.

I think getting put into the big boy division will help us over time. Hopefully we go with a pod system soon and the divisions won’t matter any longer. Pretty sure this will be a moot point in a year or two.

Sure hope so. The scheduling model for the ACC right now does not drive conference rivalries and is bad news.

Because it's a significantly weaker division. Not one dominant team. The national champions out the ACC have come out of the Atlantic.

The B1G and SEC would benefit the most from having 3-5-5 scheduling because it would reduce the fratricide they have each year. Now that they know the ACC isn't going to implode, they may be more amenable to it if it comes up for another vote.

I hope you're right. Clemson is going to continue running over everyone and I doubt FSU stays down forever.

As long as we have divisions the following should be true:

Each has a Fla team (check)
Each has a Southern team (check)
Each has two NC teams (check)
Each has a Western team (check)
Each has 2 private schools (false)
Each has a Northern school (false)
Each has a VA school (false)

IMO the teams in the Atlantic are way more attractive to play. But for the best over the conference it should be:

Atlantic-Coastal
Miami-FSU
Clemson-GA Tech
NC State-UNC
Wake-Duke
Pitt-Louisville
SU-BC
VA Tech-UVA

So you are trading FSU, Louisville, BC for Miami, VA Tech, Pitt. The divisions are completely and geographically balanced. You keep all the important rivalries. There is zero reason for the ACC not to do this next season.

For SU we play VA Tech/Miami and lose Louisville/FSU. A win in my book.

Most likely you see this year:

1. Clemson
2. VA Tech
3. Wake
4. Pitt
5. Miami
6. NC State
7. SU

1. UVA
2. Louisville
3. FSU
4. UNC
5. BC
6. Duke
7. GA Tech

FSU would like that alignment, too, because Ga Tech is the closest to Tally geographically.

I don’t like FSU on the other side. That’s the team I have the most rivalry atmosphere towards and I want to play them every year
