Just a note:

Pitt's one year coach Todd Graham was a real A-hole according to a friend who works in association with the Panther's football program. Graham was said to be like a bull in a china shop in his dealings with the Pittsburgh Steeler's. Complaining and demanding from the start about the use of the Steeler's facilities. It's incredible the lack of stability in that program, in the last three years they've had 5 different head coaches.

Dave Wannstedt fired 2010
Phil Bennett 1 game 2010
Mike Haywood 2.5 weeks 2011
Todd Graham 1 year
Paul Cryst 2012

In all my years I have never seen a turnover like that. Heck in my lifetime Syracuse has only had 6 different head coaches.

This is the year we need to beat them... They have had a bunch of turmoil but obviously had a bunch of stockpiled talent to turnover... We need to at the very least pull even with them as we enter the ACC...

Boston College’s joining the conference extended the ACC footprint to New England, but the Eagles were sort of like an extra toe on that foot.

There you go! BC is Polydactyly College.

Good article.

Final score notwithstanding, we had plenty of chances to beat them last year. Pitt did everything imaginable to give the game away, we just played so crappy in the first half that we couldn't take advantage.

Who is Keith Patterson?

I don't really count Bennett, those interim guys are just piling on when trying to make a point like this. But definitely more turnover than desired. Bama had a similar run pre-Saban, around the time when Mike Price was coach until he found a local strip club.

It should be Paul Cryst

They made a mistake here

For a minute there I thought the Panther should be in the San Fernando Valley making movies

I think we did everthing imaginable to give the game away.

That first quarter was an absolute disaster.

That the Orange had the ball at the end with a chance to win was remarkable given how the game began.

10 penalties 6 turnoversOh Lord in a must win game(n)

Nassib running the ball. Carrying it one handed. What could go wrong?

I think Pitt will be better than expected this season [blatent homerism, BTW]. Chryst employs a style similar to Wannyball, which is what 75% of the roster was recruited for. If he can turn Tino into an average QB, Pitt can have a decent season.

That is not to say that 'Cuse can't beat Pitt. I just don't think that Pitt will be as bad as some think.

Completely agree--which is why I stated above / believe that if we hadn't played so poorly, we very easily could have won. Huge, huge missed opportunity considering what that sixth win would have meant.

On that last point, rutgers, uconn, and pitt were ALL huge missed opportunities for a team desperate to qualify for bowl eligibility.

And to pour even more salt in that wound, those are the teams we NEED to beat on a regular basis. In the ACC it will be Pitt, BC and Maryland instead - but man is it frustrating when you have winnable games against all three BE schools in the Northeast and you blow all three of them.

It is extremely difficult for a coach to come in with a new staff and be successful in a new league. Even a really good coach like Kelly was at UC crashed and burned, though it should be noted he knew his first year was going to be ugly and was smart enough to redshirt his young players to position the program better for the future. His successor Jones was a complete failure his first year there too.

DM struggled at Syracuse. Graham was awful at Pitt. Holtz took a step backwards at USF. The Dude at WVU saw the Mountaineer program struggle and fall backwards some.

I expect Chryst and Flood, the failed OC at RU they were forced to hire when no one was willing to take the job there, to both fail badly their first years as HCs. That being said, if there was ever a year a rookie head coach could step in and be really successful right away and if there was ever a league where this could happen, it would be the year 2012 in the Big East.

That sound is RutgersAl scotch taping this post to his mirror. :)

Yes, the Rutgers game was won - period. That was a travesty.

The UConn game and the Pitt game could have been won.

The games against Cincy, Louisville and to a lesser extent perhaps USF were pretty much beat downs.

Those teams were better than we were.

I agree with this post.

The Pitt personnel will be better suited to what Chryst will bring to the table.

His system will better utilize Pitt's talent level.

I'm happy to hear this b/c I always thought Graham looked like a and I'm happy that I judged the book by it's cover and can now claim to be correct.

Graham lived in my neighborhood and belonged to my golf club while he was in Pittsburgh. The man was an arrogant douche who truly acted as if he deserved better treatment than anyone else. Glad to see him gone, as he was not well liked by most.

Pitt, South Florida, and Cincy games were all travesty's. Easily could have won all three games but horrifc turnovers, bad Linebacker play, and offensive playcallign did us in. I know OrangePA keeps stating these teams were all much better then us but again its simply not true.
