But Pitino is not a saint so we were too good for him

Nah, it’s not that in a vacuum.

JAB - 2 prior NCAA violations.
+
Rick the quick - walking NCAA show-cause waiting to happen

Cuse couldn’t risk our 3rd strike by even considering having Pitino coach here.

Now - since then the NCAA and NIL have made everything the Wild West, so the ‘risks’ of Pitino wouldn’t have likely ended up mattering.

All that said - you don’t replace an 80 year old HC with a 70-something HC,
in spite of that younger guys coaching and crootin chops.

I do give Pitino credit. Told league MVP to leave. Struggled early and now good. Added bonus they constantly punch UConn in the teeth

I for one enjoyed watching St John’s and Rick Pitino out physical and coach UConn last night.

Pitino now 3rd in career wins behind JAB and Coach K
Btw I was in attendance, incredible atmosphere. Top 5 event I attended at MSG. At the end the Jumbotron showed a train departure board graphic with the leaders in wins to update Rick Pitino’s total. JB of course number 2 with 1,116 wins. Someone in MSG graphics department gave the middle finger to the NCAA. Loved it!
