The real Ivy league schools have accumulated multi billion dollar endowments and it didn't come from football TV contracts. Membership in that league is a golden ticket to the best students, highest alumni giving, best research grants, etc. SU stands to gain a lot being in a league with Stanford, Cal, Duke, GaTech, BC, and Wake. Some others may be there maybe not - Miami, UVa. ND, like them or not, would happily leave their non football sports in such a league. Pitt is smart enough to have pushed for Stanford and Cal; they know it's better for them than the Big XII. [/QUOTE]
