I’m not a huge fan of this. Seems crazy to only add 2 west coast teams by themselves. If we are going to do it, wonder if it would make sense to grab Washington state and Oregon state as well. Merge with the PAC and get their 16 million worth of NCAA tournament units. ACC teams I believe are right around 40 million currently. Tell them we will take them but they will make 20 million. Which would probably be more than they would make in the MWC or AAC. Now you’re looking at roughly 96 million more dollars to pass around the ACC. Half of the four teams annual payout, the tournament units, ACC network value from Oregon, Washington, and California. Not to mention if there is anything like the 4 years with no payments that has also been discussed, that would be an even bigger monetary value. You know what, screw it, add SMU and San Diego state as well. 6 western oriented teams. ACC network into California, Texas, Washington, Oregon. Tell each team they will only get 45% payout till 2036. Without calculating ACC network revenue from those states, this would be an extra 120 million, not to mention the roughly 16 million in tournament units or the thought of teams forgoing payments for several years. Take this extra 136 million and make it incentivized. Better your revenue sports do, the more money you get. Competition would bread more successful sports programs. Which would then make a more successful conference.
