But where are they going? Neither the B1G nor SEC has offered more than two teams at a time. Will that change? Also the B1G didn't want to offer Oregon and Washington, but they went ahead because they felt forced to. That is Oregon and Washington. Most of the ACC schools aren't even close to those two programs. I can't see more than 4 ACC schools getting a B1G invite the next round. Same goes the SEC. But IMO it is unlikely that both take 4. There aren't enough quality teams. One taking 4 and the other 2 makes sense. That leaves 12 ACC schools that get left behind the next round. The ACC was stable until 2034 and this new agreement makes the ACC stable until 2028. It makes little sense for two thirds of the conference. Edit The B1G and SEC have never wanted to be seen as conference killers. I don't think that changes now. Which is why you won't see a mass exit in 2030. I also think that date was done on purpose. The B1G and SEC can take who they want and the rest of the ACC technically won't die until 2036. There is no incentive for the left behinds to leave early for the B12. Maybe there is a merger with the B12, but it wasn't the B1G or SEC that dealt the death blow to the ACC. I don't think the ACC left behinds want anything to do with the B12. If ESPN is willing to keep the $ competitive, I think the ACC makes it to at least 2040. Also that is what Notre Dame will want. As long as they have a path to the playoffs, they will want the ACC to survive. I think in 2028 both the B1G and SEC will announce teams. And again in 2034. And the final adds happen in 2040. I rather rip the bandaid off with realignment, but based on history I think we still have at least a decade more of waiting. Hope I am wrong.
