Hoops HQ has Syracuse's portal group ranked as 16th in the ACC. Seems too low to me. Maybe the metrics on this portal group are lower than their abilities. If so, Alex did a great job of finding underrated talent. Only time will tell.

It's funny, 247 has us 6th in the ACC and 36th in the country. Their high school recruit rankings have us 5th in the ACC and 12th overall.

Combined, 247 has us 5th and 19th respectively.

There are 8 ACC programs in the top 25 of the 247 list, which bodes very well for the conference strength next season.

Looking at our actual transfers, I think Kyle and Souare are very underrated, as they haven't done much. Their physical attributes will project really well.

George, Betsey and Kingz are all highly rated recruits with high major experience.

Plus, two of our best players are the guys who stayed.

I think we'll be just fine next season.

Nait George alone should have us in the top 10. Clearly not weighing in this analytics formula the impact of a very good PG addition.

It's paywalled but assuming 2 of our starting 5 didn't come from the portal and didn't exactly crush it last year it's not surprising.

I know this stuff is all for clicks but seems silly not to rank the aggregate of the returnees, portal, and the incoming recruiting class.

Not sure how On3 came up with their rankings but we are #1 in ACC and #15 overall in portal rankings. I don't agree with that but its somethîng.

edit: Now I see how it was calculated, I think. As I understand it we rank 15th in improving our roster from last year through the portal.

It was almost like it was meant to be an insult, like the extremely low ranking.

Seth Davis ….until we get better and he can’t enjoy our struggles he will pile on.

My favorite Seth Davis memory is when he said we were on upset alert against Montana State in the 2013 NCAA tournament and we came out and won by 50.

Yep one of my favorites as well.

Rankings of any sort are click bait more often than not. In today's world of NCAA basketball, they are less than meaningless. Of course, these guys are on salary so they have to write something to keep their jobs. And, as in the past, no one next March is going to hold them responsible for the blunders they commit this summer. They can say whatever they like because there is no accountability.

The accountability occurs when OttoinGrotto sees them in hell and takes care of business.

That is shocking. I thought we were like top 5 or 6. This makes no sense. BC and Virginia Tech in the top 10?

Do yourselves a favor and never put stock into any transfer portal ranking. They're all worthless, and this one is particularly random and terrible.

Notre Dame is #10 and they added just one player, a guy from Northern Arizona who averages a double-double. He could be really great, but is he better -- alone -- than the 6 players #16 Syracuse brought in, or the 7 to #13 Virginia?

You could even make a decent argument that they got the order of the bottom 2 wrong. Stanford added a Division II guy and a Division III guy, while Duke added a pair of Division I players from Princeton and Rice.
