what did he say?I give lots of credit to Mike Elko for a fantastic 1st season at Duke and NC State not following apart when they lost their QB for the year and beating some good teams w/o him. Very interesting quote by Clawson in that article.
“We came into this year with all these expectations, and we had so many guys back. I don’t know, in terms of how I managed this team in spring and fall camp, if that was the best way,” Clawson told reporters.what did he say?
It over achieved dumbass.
Over/Under was 5. They won 7. End of articleAgreed and once again moving the finish line when it's convenient for some haphazard content.

It's just that no one likes losing 5 in a row. It stinks. You go 6-0 in a row and you start having dreams.
But 7 regular season wins with losses to FSU, Clemson, ND, Wake on the road and Pitt, that ain't bad. I wish we got the Pitt win.
Win the bowl game, 8 total wins is big time. Let's see who we get to come back and who we get in the portal.
Dino isn't perfect, but we aren't getting rid of him right now. Last off season we did very well. Hoping to replicate that again.
The 6 straight wins and 5 straight losses were at least partially a product of how the schedule laid out. That five game stretch included the three toughest opponents on the schedule in Clemson, Notre Dame and FSU, a Wake Forest team that rose as high as #10 in the polls during the season and a game in Pittsburgh without our QB1.
Suppose we swap the sequence of the dates of Louisville and Notre Dame and of Virginia and FSU. Now instead of 6W, 5L, 1W it’s much more balanced with no consecutive losses. How different would the perception of a 7-5 season be in that scenario?

Absolutely true. I suppose I was trying to hypothesize using an all other things being equal assumption. Could counter that if we played Pitt earlier when Shrader was completely healthy maybe that becomes a W.Exactly.
Plus - getting Llvll first game obviously benefited us, since they didn’t know our new schemes, and we were completely healthy for that game.
If we play them later, that maybe becomes an L.
Agree completely. I always thought the FCS game should be like the D2 exhibitions in hoops.1-4 against top 30 SRS
2-1 vs 31-60
4-0 vs the rest 94-99 and Wagner is ranked a thousandth I think
Roster isn't good enough to do much better than that against top 30. Glad we played Louisville when we did.
Glad they got bowl eligible without needing that Wagner nonsense
SRS better than duke and uncAgree completely. I always thought the FCS game should be like the D2 exhibitions in hoops.
OTOH, how many 6 win bowl teams are only at that level due to an FCS win? And how many others have multiple wins against low level competition. Look at our schedule vis-a-vis Duke and tell me if you are more impressed by our 7-5 or their 8-4 where their only win over a bowl eligible team was the season ending 3 point victory over Wake Forest?
Yes. I was looking at ACC teams and trying to objectively rank the three 7-5 teams to determine which had the most compelling body of work. On a whim looked at Duke’s 8-4 mark and saw how weak it was. UNC isn’t all that impressive either but they did beat 4 bowl teams.SRS better than duke and unc
Too many teams to follow to know intuitively which schedules are harder.
