ACC POY Race?

Just one little stat: Last year, for every 100 possessions, White took nearly 24 shots, but he had only 1.2 assists. He had 20 assists for the entire season. Perhaps none of his Nebraska teammates could hit the ocean from the Va Beach Pier, For all I know, none of them could even catch the ball, but this ought to be a small cause of concern, especially given the way he left both Kansas and Nebraska. Furthermore, he attended the Miller School, which is right outside of Charlottesville, and Bennett never offered him a scholarship. He may end of being an All American this year, but...

I think the assist thing is a legitimate point, it doesn't look like White is a particularly good or even average (perhaps willing is the better word) passer. The point about Bennett is pretty damn irrelevant.

So back to player of the year... I would say even if we finished first in the conference this is Grayson Allens award to lose...I wonder what the odds are on this...
I'm pretty much right there with you. He's the Tyler Hansborough of the ACC this season. Punchable face? check. White guy playing well? check. Hyper competitive (read: a**hole)? check.

It's his to lose, no doubt, unless he shatters his tibia trying to trip someone in crunch time early in the season. Would have to happen before Christmas though.

Agreed. If Duke wins the ACC, Allen will get the POY. Hard to imagine that not happening...

Did anyone else just want to slug Cherokee Parks?

Nah, I felt bad for Cherokee. Because his name is Cherokee. But another Dookie who needed a throat punch was Gerald Henderson. Did he ever get his comeuppance from the cheap shot to Psycho T? He should have.

White>Lydon

Even if that's true, Lydon has already made an impression on the other coaches and players, and on the broadcasters, from having played against these opponents.

There is a built-in PR factor that favors Lydon over White, at least until the beginning of the conference season, because he'll be included in pre-game talking points, probably for the first half of the season at a minimum. By then, White will be established in our rotation and we'll see how well he meshes with the other guys. He certainly can play at this level, because he already did very well against the Big 10.

But Lydon has the early PR advantage, in my opinion. He's the guy in the draft projections, not White. At least not for now.

Oh, gosh! Dan Meagher, Danny Ferry, Christian Leitner, Chrissy Collins, et al. On the other hand, it is worth recalling that before Krzyzewski, Duke players were not so unlikeable. I often wonder if K simply recruits these types, or if they simply become jerk-like under his tutelage!

It's a requirement to take A$$hole 101 if you go to Duke.

NO. He isn't. White was at Kansas and couldn't get on the floor. He goes to Nebraska and is allowed to take a lot of shots. Good for him. Lydon is an elite talent/ If he were to have gone pro this year, he would have gone in the first round. He will go in the first round this year. He is a much better player.
White>Lydon
White is a euro talent. Lydon is a 10 year NBA guy.
