ACC Pulls the Plug: No Fan Access starting tomorrow.

In light of the rapidly changing landscape regarding COVID-19, the latest developments nationally from health authorities and today’s announcement by the NCAA COVID-19 Advisory Panel, the ACC will alter the remainder of the ACC Tournament.

After consultation with the league’s presidents and athletic directors, it was determined that beginning Thursday, March 12, all games will be played with only essential tournament personnel, limited school administrators and student-athlete guests, broadcast television and credentialed media members present.

Did they do it because everyone else is? They should have done it before fans traveled. It’s the right thing to do but why now and not Monday?
Wow, I hope the ACC re-emburses everyone for the travel to NC. I know they will get the ticket money back. I’d be very mad if I spent the money to go.

How do they know the risk is greater tomorrow than today? Why not implement it immediately?

what a mess, I would understand the Big East due to the proximity of the cases near NYC but this is just unchartered

I really hope they get this under control and we can all stop succumbing to the fear porn from the media

If every American stayed in their homes for 2 weeks, the virus would all but go away. Short of that, I cant think of anything worse than 20,000 people in one building right now.

The media? Aren’t they just repeating what medical experts are saying and suggesting? Most of the decisions I heard about say something about ‘after conferring with medical experts ...”

Another one folds to media induced hysteria. Kick in the junk to the fans that already traveled.

For people who think this is media induced - stop watching the media and start reading the science and the medical professionals and then get back to me.

The only reason this is going off the rails is because of those who are doubting this. The "I'm traveling no matter what" people. And that is directly responsible for people dying. If we all did the right thing we very well could be on a track for this to be under control. Instead, we are led by a fool whose priorities are economy and not life and that's criminal IMO.

Man, I’d happily go golfing(and I don’t even really like golf), maybe a little hike, and find an outdoor bar in a heartbeat. Probably a way better day than watching those crappy games.

Except the media is having virologists and other medical experts on who give us the facts. Many of them have been advocating for social distancing for a long time. It’s a shame that all these states and entities are doing it on their own with no national guidance.

because its monkey see monkey do
John Swofford didnt think its a threat early this week but now that the NCAA immposed a ban he now feels pressure to do so at the best convenient time, its all so no one looks bad with continuing with business as usual because that would then be seen as reckless by some people

Its not a death sentence unless your over 70 or have a weak immune system

im signing off, go cuse

Well, I guess I made the right decision to travel on to Charlotte. I did list my tickets on Stub Hub. Oh well.

My head is spinning.

Why would it go away? as soon as we all came out wouldn’t it appear again I mean it started in China, are they going to stay inside for 2 weeks?
