make it between ND (presuming top 25 and not in a conference) and the #1, #2 or #3 ACC team. That keeps NYC in the ACC and 'Cuse arena...next ACC should tie-up the Orange Bowl and keep it between the top remaining teams from either the SEC or B1G that remain which means #3 from these conferences and ACC #2, #3, #4.
Also, get the Garden for bball tourney on a minimum of every other year...the ACC must now become the conference of the EAST and East Coast...from Boston down through NC and Florida.

That will keep the ACC in good shape. Act fast and do the tie-ins...remember B1g is looking at the Pin Stripe Bowl.

What about signing an agreement with the Pac 12, B1G, Big 12, and SEC and BE to play the ACC champ non playoff team vs the highest ranked non-Rose Bowl/Champions game/playoff team or BE champ non playoff team in the Orange Bowl? Probably too complex, but would give the big 4 yet another avenue to a BCS level bowl, give the BE access to something for a Boise, give ND another reason to join a conf, and give the ACC the best possible opponent for its champion and if it gets a playoff team give the ACC access to a 2nd BCS level game.
