State on the other hand relies on a slapstick out of conference schedule to guarantee them 3-4 wins, had Tom O'brien as their coach way too long, and last I checked, still had problems with fans coming back after halftime from their tailgate locales.

If anything, I would have compared them to a "group" like Lady Antebellum.  Relying on sugary lyrics to appeal to a broader audience, and having little in the way of substance.  After seeing such fawning stories about how supposedly great they are, you start to wonder just how did they become so un-freaking believably popular.  Wait a minute, I take that back, Lady Antebellum has actually won some music awards (or in this case, State hasn't won a conference title since '79).  Maybe Kenny Rogers? successful long ago, relying now on legacy and an established show for a payday?
