(theACC.com) – After a perfect conference record, Florida State earned the top seed for the 2017 ACC Softball Championship, taking place Thursday, May 11 through Saturday, May 13 at North Carolina’s Anderson Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The defending champion Seminoles (48-5-1, 24-0), who are ranked No. 2 in the nation this week, will open play against eighth-seeded Virginia (22-31, 9-15) on Thursday at 11 a.m. This is the Cavaliers’ first appearance in the championship since 2014. Fourth-seeded Boston College (31-21, 14-9) will face fifth-seeded Notre Dame (32-20, 13-11) at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams ended their regular season facing each other where the Fighting Irish took the series, 2-1. Louisville (31-18, 14-8) will be the second-seed and will play seventh-seeded NC State (17-37, 10-14) on Thursday at 5 p.m. The Cardinals swept the Wolfpack in their last conference series in Raleigh, N.C. The last Thursday matchup features third-seeded, and host, North Carolina (36-18, 14-9) facing sixth-seed Syracuse (31-18, 10-10) at 7:30 p.m. The Tar Heels and the Orange each took a win from their series in late April at Syracuse, N.Y. ACC fans will be able to watch all seven games of the championship as Thursday’s and Friday’s contests will be televised by the league’s Regional Sports Networks, and Saturday’s title game will be carried live on ESPN. Daily tickets are available for $5 for adults and $3 for youth 18 and under, while tournament passes are available in advance of the tournament for $9. Students from an ACC school can enter for free with valid student identification. Tickets can be purchased online: http://theacc.co/sb17tix.
